Guess What? IT’S GONNA BE MAY!

by Alisha Jackson

It’s that time of year again! It’s gonna be May!

For some reason, Justin Timberlake‘s line in ‘N Sync‘s 2000 hit, “It’s Gonna Be Me”, has become the unofficial tagline of the month of May, and we can’t help but feel bad for the rest of the guys in the group.

Can’t they ever catch a break?

I mean, they all say the line.

And as you can see in the picture above, J.C. and Chris clearly aren’t amused with this JT as month-of-May-ambassador business.

Songwriters have been altering the pronunciation of “me” in order to make it rhyme with more words since the beginning of time (rough estimate).

So let’s celebrate the fact that it’s gonna be May with more late 90’s/early 2000’s hits that mispronounce the word “me”!

“When The Lights Go Out” by Five (1998)

“Baby it’s not the way I feel, you know you must believe may.”

“Candy” by Mandy Moore (1999)

“I’m so addicted to the loving that you’re feeding to may.”

“So baby come to may…sway to may.”

“(You Drive Me) Crazy” by Britney Spears (1999)

“Every time you look at may, my hear is pumping, it’s easy to see.”

“I Think I’m In Love With You” by Jessica Simpson (1999)

“Something strange has come over may, got me going out of my mind.”

“Shadow” by Ashlee Simpson (2004)

“Trying to find a hand to hold but every touch felt cold to may.”
